Today, Layla turned 11 months old. Time once again feels like it is flying too fast for use to breath.
The preparations have now begun on how we are going to celebrate her first birthday. But, we are thankful we have a month still to go.
At 11 months, Layla is walking, talking, and loving life. She has clearly walked across the living room and den without any support. If she falls, she has decided it is okay to crawl to her destination. To be honest with you, it is just too amazing.
As Grandma Nixon commented, "Layla analyzes her destinations. She will change her position and test the length of her reach before she begins to move, walk, or even crawl. She is thinking hard about how and what she is after."
One of the aw moments that have taken place this month include the different ways Layla cuddles with her Mommy and Daddy.
When Layla cuddles with Mommy, she loves to rest her head in the crook of my right arm and look up at me. Then she tends to place her right hand toward my mouth and check for the permanent retainer that is on my bottom teeth. She seem to do this every time I hold and rock her. It seems like this is her way of knowing, that is my mommy. Layla will also place her hand on my chest and will pat it lightly with her finger tips. Eventually will tuck her hand between her body and mine and curl up into a tight ball, snuggled in my arms. It is just a wonderful feeling for me, her Mommy.
When Layla cuddles with Daddy, she loves to sit in he lap on his left side. Snug as a bug between his left arm and body. Then as they sit, she will grab is go-tee with her right hand and rub his whiskers and occasionally pull on then to make her Daddy smile. Then as she falls fast asleep, she pushes her forehead toward his cheek and snuggles even closer to his soft whiskery face. It is just too sweet to watch the two of them get so close.
Well 11 months ago, Layla arrived and blessed us in this world. We continue to thank God and you, our friends and family, for your unconditional love and support. Stay tuned for pictures from this week. Exciting things are sure to come.
