A Crazy Texas Winter

Yes, this has been a crazy winter in Texas for everyone, but Layla acts like she is a pro. Last week we had two days off because of the cold wintry conditions. One day was slushy and icy. The second, well you can see, was the best. SNOWY!! It was real snow, not the icy, hail, dirty stuff, Texan are familiar with. It was real snow.

Thanks to Daddy, Layla was prepared with her two layered, water resistant coat. Also, thanks to Layla's Great Aunt Lynn, who lives in Michigan, for the hand-made scarf.

Layla was all pretty in pink, and ready to explore in the snow. We made snow angles, three small snowmen, and sled down our hill in the backyard. We even made snow ice cream. Daddy even left work early to play in the snow with the entire family, dogs and all.

Take care, we hope to get back in the swing of Blogging sooner than later!

Fall has made it to Central Texas!

A visit to a pumkin patch helped our family kick the season of fall. We took Layla to a local farm that hosts fall activites for families. We took a 45 minute drive thought Central Texas, toward Temple, Texas. Once we arrived, fed various farm animals. Took pictures in the pumpkins and hay. Then we ended our trip with a short hay ride.

Layla is 15 months old!

"Yes, I am a 15 month old baby girl, just moving up and on my way to turning into a little girl. It all is happening just a little too fast for my wonderful Mommy and Daddy. "
In the past month Layla had learned to do so much. She is saying at least 10 words, including "bye-bye, No, Ya, up, ball, Babee, nose, cup, dog, Me and Peas (please)."
She has begun to love the idea of writing. She likes to take the pens that she finds around the house and write. She can take lids off, clip and push them open, and even slide the open. She has been found guilty of writing on the ways in our dinning room. Which is a "No-no." She loves to color and is learning not to eat the crayons. She has stolen Mommy's appointment book. Written important dates in it and placed it somewhere, we just have not located yet.
In regard to the dogs, Layla loves them. She has learned a few limits, such as pulling on their tails. Bill takes it, like a Man. Jenny, whimpers and runs the other way. We tell her "Not a toy," but she can only laugh and giggle at the idea. If you have any suggestions, we would love for you to share.
Food, well that is going well. She loves to eat anything. Not a picky girl. She weighed 26.8 pounds at her 15 month appointment. As you can see, we have had a blast with BBQ, play dates, time at Mrs. Nita's, visits to the zoo, cooking with Mommy, going on wagon rides, and playing and exploring with new toys and things Layla finds around the house. As some of you know, Larry, aka - Daddy, loves music. As Layla gets older, she has become fond of her fathers favorite tunes and even instruments. Layla and Daddy can be caught playing his Martin guitar in the back bedroom, listening to music on the computer, and even watching music history shows on T.V. Layla also loves to dance around the room when any kind of music is playing. Since Mommy had to work on Labor Day. Layla and Daddy got to stay home together for an extra long weekend. During this national holiday, Daddy and Layla went to Toys-Rus to buy a new fun toy. They did not come back with a doll, a ball, or even a puzzle. They came home with another musical instrument. Guitar number 2. This one records, plays three different types of music, and even can be turned into a drum, piano set. All I have to say, is Yes this was a worth wild investment.
Well, with all of that said, we must close and which you all a happy fall. Stay tuned to find out what happened in October for us, the Garcia Family.

The eve of Layla's 15 month birthday.
She does not feel well.
We suspect an ear infection.
We were correct.
After a visit to the doctor's office and a morning at home with mommy and an afternoon with daddy - Layla is having a blast on her 15 month birthday.

Thank you Layla for blessing our lives.
You are a precious, magical, and phenomenal girl.
Please remember we love you.
