Layla is 5 weeks old!

Layla is five weeks old and has out grown newborn clothes. My baby is growing and that makes me just smile. This week was a great week for us. She had her first trip to moms school, Hewitt Elementary. She also went on her first shopping trip to Talbot's and the grocery store. In addition, Layla had her first lunch date with her daddy. She truly enjoyed drinking her milk as her parents enjoyed as quick meal together. Layla's new favorite thing is to lift her head up during tummy time and look for her mommy. She also likes to lift her head while she is held. (She picture below.) Layla did the cutest thing on Tuesday, July 21st. When her daddy came into the house and looked for his little girl, he was greeted with the biggest grin we had ever seen. I wish we had the camera in hand to capture the moment. She just smiled a big toothless smile and stared at him right in the eyes. Larry said, "That is the best thing to come home to after a long hot day of work." Today, Sunday, July 26th, Layla had another milestone moment during her daily tummy time. She was laying on a blanket in her bedroom and turned her head from the left side to the right side. She did it all on her own. Wow!!!! We can't wait to see her make her first turn from tummy to back. As you can imagine, we are loving every moment with this gorgeous little girl. We have defiantly spoiled her to the max. As the summer comes to an end, and with only two weeks before mom has to go back to work, we are planning to spend every waking and sleeping moment together. It is just amazing to see how much she has grown and changed in only five weeks. We just love her and continue to cherish every single move she makes as she continues to bless us.

Layla enjoys a delicious refreshing drink.
Thank you mom for feeding me.

Sweet dreaming girl.

We are wondering what she is thinking and dreaming about.

Layla is 4 weeks old!

Week four for Layla has been great. Relaxing and keeping her parents busy is the name of her game. On Monday, as you know was monumental, since her umbilical cord fell off. So, as you will see below, Layla had her first official bath. Boy, did she make mommy and daddy know this was not a fun event in her life. She cried and screamed so loud that the dogs left the kitchen and went to bed early. But her daddy came to the rescue with the warm hooded towel to wrap his baby girl in. On Saturday, Layla was baptised at St. Jerome's Catholic Church. First, she slept through her first mass in her dads warm and secure arms. Then she quietly got blessed and baptised by Deacon George. Layla's godmother is her Aunt Jean and her godfather is her Great Grandfather. Layla was baptised in Larry's baptismal gown. See the pictures below, it is beautiful. After this amazing sacrament, the entire family came to our house for a christening celebration. We truly appreciate all of the love and support our family has given us and will continue to give us as we raise Layla to be a christian. In addition, Layla had her first Nixon outing, with her Grandmother, Aunt Jean, and Mom at the Olive Garden. Time with just the girls is something the three of us cherish. With all of that said, we must go and get everyone ready for bed since tomorrow is Monday and we are preparing for another wonderful week as a happy family. Stay tuned for more next week.

Another Milestone happened today!

This morning between five o'clock and seven o'clock in the morning, Layla's umbilical cord fell off. Mommy cried because her newborn baby is growing and changing so fast. Three weeks and a day have gone by and Layla is has lost her button, right on track.

Layla is 3 weeks old!

What a week! We began this week with another doctor's appointment. But the good news is that all is well. We don't have to return until we are two months old, unless Layla gets sick. Layla weighed 9.7 for her two week check up, which was pleasing to her doctor. The rest of week entailed staying at home and seeing more and more visitors who were eager to meet Layla. The best part of this week included some milestone firsts. On Tuesday, July 7th, Layla gave her first official smile to mommy at 9:45 p.m. after a late night diaper change. On Wednesday, July 8th, Layla began to lift her head on her own. The head lifting is still being practiced with daily tummy time. But we will master it very soon. In addition, Mommy read Layla her first book "Pat the Bunny" and interacted with it by touching the soft bunny, scratchy whiskers, and looking in the mirror. Layla made her first outing to her great grandparents house on Friday night. She also made her first public outing too for quick lunch with Mommy, Daddy, Mamo, and Papa, followed by a trip to Target. She slept through the entire trip, which worked out great. As we being this new week, we are preparing for Layla's baptism and hoping to relax and stay cool in the sizzling Texas heat.

Awwwww. Look at this cute bundle of joy. She is off to dream land.

FYI - This is Layla's favorite sleeping position.

Look at me, I am ready to go out and meet all of the little fish in the sea.

Look very closely, I am smiling.

The nice thing is we can relax and recline here and fall asleep on Mommy.

Layla is 2 weeks old!

Now, that Layla is two weeks old, things are going very well. Life is good for our new bundle of joy. Especially since her crib finally arrived on Thursday. Thanks to her wonderful daddy, the crib was up and ready to use before the 4th of July. Below you will see her first official nap in her beautiful crib.
For the most part, this was a relaxing week. It started off with another doctors appointment, where Layla was diagnosed with her first eye infection. So, we have had to medicate it four times a day (in the morning, at lunch, in the afternoon, and at bed time.) Daddy went back to work on Monday as well. The rest of the week was full of wonderful and exciting visitors who stopped by to see Layla. Layla also had her very first experience with a babysitter. Thanks to Grandma Nixon, her mom was able to go to a job interview. And yes, I got the job, diagnostician at Hewitt Elementary.
To close for this week, we hope you enjoy viewing some of the pictures we have taken for the week.
